In October of 1961, a group of boating
enthusiasts from the town of Fircrest met
to organize a boating club. In December of that year the first election of officers was held, and in March of 1962 "The Fircrest Boating Club" was incorporated. In January of 1969, the name was changed to "The Fircrest Yacht Club." Fircrest Yacht Club reciprocal moorage is located at Breakwater Marina, 5603 N. Waterfront Drive, Tacoma, WA 98407. The marina is located in the Yacht Club basin at Point Defiance. In 1991 the by-laws were restructured to reflect the club's focused interest in recreational cruising.
